My  Story

Hi, I’m Julia

My photography journey started in high school, I picked up a camera and started composing portraits, documenting everything and everyone around me. In highschool I practically lived in the dark room, and that came with me to university as well, where I got an honourary minor in photography. I kept my camera with me always, until it fell apart, an old soviet Zenit that was heavy enough to be used as protection, lacking a light meter and held together by hope, duct tape and a bobby pin for winding film.

It’s been 20 years, and I still I LOVE photographing people, it is my element an extension of who I am. Some things have changed… I finally switched (mostly) to digital in 2014 taking with me the intuition, thoughtfulness and whimsy.

My approach to weddings & sessions is intuitive, thoughful, & creatively led.

I’m honestly just a big squish, deeply drawn to vulnerability and genuine connection, and always happy to embrace the strange and unexpected. My brain is forever filled off into new ideas and daydreams, and I love finding ways to bring them to life. I feel most like myself behind a camera, making something honest and meaningful with people who care deeply about who they are, what they create, and the lives they’re building.
