This was a vulnerable photo to take, getting myself in front of the camera. I’m embodying and emboldening by the things that would socially not make for a ‘pretty’ picture. I’m not a teenager, I’m not thin, in fact I’ve been fighting with my weight for the last 2 years. I’m not clean cut. And yet. I’ve never felt better in my skin. The most beautiful women, the most inspiring women I know are not the most polished. I’ve been wanting to create this image for some time. I borrowed a dress from my friend Erin which has been sitting in my closet for weeks. Then I was talking to Adam about how I wanted horns and couldn’t quite work out how to make them.

I’ve been wanting to create this image for some time. I borrowed a dress from my friend Erin which has been sitting in my closet for weeks. Then I was talking to Adam about how I wanted horns and couldn’t quite work out how to make them. He slipped out to the garage without a word and came back with a set he’d found years ago, walking through the woods. Just as I wanted to take the picture, in the front yard it started pouring. I waited, head dress digging into my skin. Then the clouds parter and a single ray of sun came through, just for a moment.
